Rhapsody’23 : A Cultural Gala Celebrating Talents at Gurucharan College

way2barak, July 26: Rhapsody’23 was organized by the students of the Department of Zoology at Gurucharan College, Silchar, to celebrate the diverse talents of the students beyond academics. The event aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their skills in activities such as dance, skits, and songs while also bidding farewell to the outgoing batches and motivating them for their future endeavors.

The cultural gala commenced at 11:00 am on 24th July with the felicitation of esteemed guests of honor, Dr. Sankar Prasad Bhattacharyya and Dr. Chhaya Roy, former Principals and Heads of the Department of Zoology at Gurucharan College, Silchar. Their presence added grace and significance to the event.

The program began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by inspiring speeches from the teachers, setting the stage for a day of celebration and talent.

The faculty members, particularly Dr. Nilendu Dhar, Head of the Zoology Department, and Dr. Debipreeta Dutta, Assistant professor and Dr. Debashish Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professor, Ramanuj Gupta Degree college and Mr Anandan Das of PDUAM Eraligool participated in this programme as Guests. They delivered inspiring speeches, instilling a sense of purpose and dedication in the students to continue their pursuit of knowledge and contribute positively to society.

Rhapsody’23 witnessed a captivating array of performances, which was anchored by Sagar Barman and Kaushaki Adhikari of the 5th Sem Zoo Hons that included different dance performances that were choreographed by Monisha Nath and Bijaita Singha of the 5th Sem and chorus songs, celebrating the beauty of Rabindra Sangeet. Main participants in the programme are Bijaita, Monisha, Sagar, Saprativa, Nayani, Bidipta, Sangita, Snigdha, Kaushaki , Sourav, Sunny, Anis, Mustaq, Ajmal, Zabir, Priyankit, Baibhav, Snigdha etc. Additionally, a thought-provoking skit with a social message was also presented by the outgoing batch, showcasing the students’ creativity and commitment to societal issues.

The occasion was also an opportunity to bid adieu to the outgoing batches of the Department of Zoology.There are a photographic presentation of the 3 years journey of the outgoing students by Saprativa Debnath. The teachers bestowed their blessings and encouragement upon the departing students, motivating them to pursue their higher aspirations with determination and zeal.

The event not only celebrated their artistic skills but also served as a platform to bid farewell to the outgoing batches, encouraging them to embark on their future journeys with confidence and determination.
