Research based book of Dr PK Sinha on Bishnupriya Manipuris released

Jan. 12: A research based book entitled “Bishnupriya Manipuris on Socio- Politics Cross Roads” written by Dr Probhat Kumar Sinha, former Principal of Radhamadhab College, Silchar was released. In this connection, a programme was organized at the community hall of Bhubaneshwar Sadhuthakur Seva Ashram,  Silchar, which was chaired by eminent litterateur Prof Barun Kumar Sinha.

The book was released by Literature Pension awarded writer cum protagonist of language movement Yogendra Kumar Sinha. In his speech, he regarded this book to be a rich document synonymous as the vanguard of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community.

Eminent scholar and an expert of folk tradition, Dr Amalendu Chakraborty graced the occasion as the Guest of honour. He described the book as an important document for the posterity. He also urged upon the author to publish an online version of the book.

Others who graced the book release programme were the President of the Central Committee of Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha – Krishna Ballard Sinha, Principal of Silchar Normal School Manashi Sinha and a galaxy of scholars belonging to the Bishnupriya Manipuri community. All regarded the book to be a classic document of their community. Earlier, the author of the book, Dr Probhat Kumar provided a detailed description of the contents and the backdrop in which he wrote it.
