“Repeal AFSPA, Nagas are not terrorists,” slogans raised at protest movement in Nagaland
Dec. 18: Large number of protesters took to the streets at Kohima in Nagaland on Friday with placards that said, “Repeal AFSPA, Nagas are not terrorists.” Recently, 14 civilians were killed in an alleged ambush by security forces in Nagaland. The protesters also demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah should withdraw his statement made in the Parliament, where he stated that the security forces fired in self-defence.
The protesters demanded the repeal of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA). They also demanded that justice should be awarded to all the victims. They even sent a memorandum in this regard to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) who spearheaded the protest movement with active support of many others organisations.
