Remembering Dr.Bhupen Hazarika on 94th birth anniversary

Sept.8: Commemorating Bharat Ratna Awardee Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s 94th birth anniversary, a solemn programme was organised by the Cachar district administration maintaining all COVID protocols on Tuesday. Floral tribute were paid to the multifaceted personality by Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajib Roy and other staff of DC’s establishment.

Paying eloquent tribute to the doyen of culture, Deputy Commissioner Jalli said Dr.Bhupen Hazarika was an iconic figure and through his songs and lyrics, he tried to instill the values of self determination and self help. “We must remember his values. He taught us unity in diversity and tried to generate awareness on a gamut of social issues,” said Jalli.Jalli said there is a special underlying message in his every song which talks about community involvement and awareness. “Following his ideology, we must take the pledge to work for development of the society. That will be a fitting and lasting tribute to the towering personality,’ Jalli quipped.
