Relief materials distributed in 28 wards of Silchar town
July 1: As entire urban Silchar remained submerged under flood water for more than a week, the Cachar district administration under the direction of the state government distributed relief materials among the people in all 28 wards of the town on 30 June and 1 July. Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli formed teams comprising of government officials and staff for each ward-wise distribution centre. The teams worked in coordination with the relief team already working with Rescue and Relief distribution as assigned by DDMA Cachar.
In all such distribution centres in urban Silchar, the government officials were helped by the local populace in smooth distribution of the relief materials. Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy and MLA Dipayan Chakraborty also went around the relief distribution centres spread across the town.
In Ward No 12, the materials were distributed from Progressive Mansion, Public School Road. A long queue of beneficiaries was spotted since early morning on Thursday and Friday at this centre. Rice, Masoor Dal, Salt and Mustard Oil were handed over to the people. Earlier, house-wise tokens were given at every house of the ward.
In this centre, the relief materials were systematically distributed with active cooperation by Bireswar Bhattacharjee, Debasish Shome, Santanu Roy, Bhagya Rani Paul, Chandan Roy among others.
