Regional Office of Information and Public Relations, Silchar received accolades

April 28: Regional Office of Information and Public Relations (DDIPR), Silchar, Barak Valley Zone received accolades from the citizens of the district for keeping them updated with Information regarding measures being taken by the District Administration, Cachar to tackle COVID-19 pandemic. Currently working on minimum employee capacity due to lockdown period, only 4 staff at DDIPR office have been relentlessly extending their service round the clock.

The office has been regularly informing the people at large about do’s and don’ts through fixed loud speaker announcement, mobile announcement, social media and also by issuing press releases in newspapers and electronic media etc. The office is also closely working to monitor fake news in the media channels, newspapers and in social media, platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter etc.

Today while talking to our correspondent over telephone, the Deputy director of information and public relations Barak Valley Zone, Assam, Indrani Goswami said “With the limited staff capacity, my office has been rendering service round the clock in this pandemic situation much ahead of  the declaration of nationwide lockdown”. She informed that the technical staff are engaged in relaying AIR regional Bengali news including broadcasting of Chief Minister’s bulletin through fixed loud speaker system, where in 22 loud speakers were installed at important locations of Silchar Municipal area,she added.

Meanwhile, expressing his views, the proprietor of M/S Drugs Corner, Budhadeb Das said, “Sitting at my medicine store, I regularly listen to AIR regional news, important announcements on preventive measures to be taken to prevent corona virus transmission through FLS mike installed at Cachar College point.” Echoing the view, Dhruba Krishna Banik, owner of M/S Gopinath Jewellers, Central Road, Silchar said, “Through the fixed loud speaker installed at Bhowal point, Central Road, Silchar and also through mobile announcement, we get to listen to all important events. Further, Bengali news bulletin by AIR Silchar which is aired at 7.55 PM, also keeps us alive to various important information related to COVID-19. They expressed deep satisfaction over the activities of DDIPR office Silchar.
