Rapid spread of coronavirus in Hailakandi: 19 COVID screening & counselling centres started

July 30: In view of rapid spread of novel coronavirus COVID-19 disease throughout Hailakandi district, the district administration has opened several COVID Screening and Counselling Centres for extensive COVID testing at community level.

In an order issued to this effect on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner, Megh Nidhi Dahal said the administration has set up a total number of 19 COVID Screening and Counselling Centres at different locations ‘in view of rapid spread of the highly contagious disease throughout the district in the last few days endangering the life of all citizens’. Dahal said such a step has been taken to provide more accessibility to the people so that they can come forward voluntarily and get their swab samples tested close to their home.

The Deputy Commissioner said in order to arrest the further spread of the disease, opening of more COVID Screening and Counselling Centres is a must for extensive testing at community Ievel. Three centres have come up in Hailakandi town vis-a-vis at Nazrul Sadan, at Vigyan Mandir and at Office campus of Executive Engineer, Irrigation, at Algapur Model Hospital, Extension Training Centre at Boalipar, SA Choudhury Girls’ High School at Janeki Bazaar, JC HS School at Kalinagar, 18 No.Panchgram LP School, Matijuri High School, 453 No.Aenakhal Hindi LP School, Lala Community Health Centre, Lala Bus Terminus, Joymangal High School at Krishnapur, AK High Madrassa at Tantoo, Sahabad GP Office, CM HS School at Katlicherra, Allen Charlmars MES at Katlicherra Bagan, Monipur Hospital and Gharmura Inspection Bunglow. The centres will be manned by an incharge and centre assistant.
