India Meteorological Department
Feb. 5: Vasant Panchami, also called Sarasvati Puja in honour of Goddess Saraswati, is a festival that marks the preparation for the arrival of spring. This year, Saraswati Puja will be celebrated on 5 February. However, though preparations mainly at schools and colleges are going on in full swing, but rainfall seems to play havoc during the day of the Puja. On 4 February, the weather was gloomy with spells of shower since late afternoon. The untimely rain affected preparations for Saraswati puja on Saturday.
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), on 5 February, it will be generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain or thundershowers. The maximum temperature during the day will be 21 degree Celsius and minimum 14 degree Celsius. Rainfall has been predicted in the morning. However, there is prediction of gloomy weather without shower in the afternoon. The unseasonal rain in winter occurred due to western disturbances, the Met office said. Once the skies clear, there will be a slight dip in mercury levels for the next few days, the weather official added.
