24 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Thursday, 2 deaths at SMCH

Aug 12:  A total of 24 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Thursday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 6,115 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 23 persons were found positive, whereas only 01 person was detected as positive in RT-PCR test. Also, 44 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged.

At present, there are 186 active cases in the district. It needs mention here that 33 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Wednesday. Further, during the day, 5,946 persons were administered Covid vaccine in Cachar. With this, a total of 5,62,988 persons in the district were vaccinated as of now.

The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 11 August to 5 PM on 12 August) witnessed the death of 02 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Thursday evening.

The deceased were identified as Bokul Kumar Deb (67) from Choto Jalenga Part-II in Cachar district and Panchali Das (95) from Motinagar in Cachar district.

Dr. Bhaskar Gupta further informed that till 5 PM of 12 August, a total of 54 active coronavirus patients are admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), out of which, 24 of them are in Covid ward and 30 at ICU. Out of them 38 patients are in oxygen support and 03 are in ventilation. In last 24 hours, 03 new patients were admitted whereas, 03 of them were discharged at SMCH.
