Pulwama attack: Musical tribute paid to the martyrs at Silchar
February 19: Massive protests and candlelight marches are still held in different parts of the country against the Pulwama terror attack which claimed the lives of 44 CRPF personnel. Emotions ran high as protesters converged in various parts of Silchar to express solidarity with the families of the martyrs. Activists of different political parties, social groups and trader outfits joined common people during these demonstrations.
A unique venture as a mark of tribute to the martyrs was taken in hand at Silchar. It was indeed a musical tribute paid by the artists of the town. Barak Valley Artists Forum in collaboration with Cachar Sound and Light Owners Welfare Association organised a musical programme at Rangirkhari, where many renowned artists of the valley offered rich tributes to the Pulwana martyrs by singing patriotic songs.
Singers like Sujit Das, Nupur Dutta, Bidhan Laskar, Manjushree Das and many others wore black badges as a mark of protest and sang patriotic numbers, such as, Dil diya hain jan bhi denga etc. They also kept a donation box over there and collected money which they will be sending to the martyrs family.
Candles were also put up in front of a temporary martyr’s column. The programme entitled “Ek Shaam Shahidon Ke Naam” (One Evening in the Memory of the Martyrs) was witnessed by large number of spectators.
Forty four CRPF personnel were killed on Thursday in one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir when a Jaish-e-Mohammad suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying over 350kg explosives into their bus.
