Dacoits loot cash & valuables at gunpoint in Kalain

Aug. 21: In a shocking incident, a band of around 12 dacoits entered into a house at Bhairavpur village near Kalain in Cachar on Friday late night. The dacoits tied the owner of the house Saidur Rahman and his wife and started to beat them mercilessly. They also tied clothes around their eyes and held them at gunpoint. For fear of their life, Saidur Rahman handed over the key of the wardrobe.

The gang of robbers ransacked the entire house and looted Rs1.5 lakh in cash and gold ornaments of around 40 grams. They also took other valuables along with them. After they left, Saidur Rahman and his wife started to scream. It was then that the neighbours rushed out and came to the help of the couple. An FIR in this regard was lodged at Kalain Patrol Post on Saturday morning. However, till the filing of this report, police could not arrest anybody associated with this crime.
