Post lockdown, 1st train will leave from Silchar to Trivandrum on 8 Oct
Oct. 1: Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, railways suspended its services for almost 6 months. Only in between, the Shramik Special Trains were run to ferry migrant workers. However, now activity will again be resumed at Silchar Railway Station. A weekly Special train (02508/ 02507) will start running between Silchar and Trivandrum Central leaving Silchar from October 8, 2020 and from Trivandrum Central from October 13, 2020.
The 02508 Silchar – Trivandrum Central weekly Special will leave Silchar at 8.05 pm on every Thursday and 02507 Trivandrum Central – Silchar weekly Special will leave Trivandrum Central at 4.55 pm on every Tuesday. These trains will stop at MaIda Town, Pakur, Rampurhat, Bolpur Shantiniketan & Howrah stations en route in Eastern Railway (ER) jurisdiction in both the directions.
Expressing his views, Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy said, “I have already requested the Minister to resume atleast one train from Silchar, which can gradually be normalized. I would like to thank the Railway Department for initiating service from Silchar and hope that very soon other trains will also be resumed.”
