Post-flood, Team Milaap undertakes mega sanitation drive in Silchar

July 11: A revolutionary step was taken by Team Milaap to stop the spread of dirt and diseases in Silchar, by sprinkling 1000 Kg of bleaching in all 28 wards of Silchar on 10 July, 2022. For the first time in history, 14 plus organisations, namely, Robinhood Army, Leo Club of Central, Shantica, Eco Alarmist, Awaz, Barak Valley Welfare Development, Hopes for Gems Society, Thousand Shayantan, Anandakriti, Young Mind Organisation, Leo Club of Titans, Leo Club of Care, Club Oasis, Rising Youth Society and 200 plus individuals joined hands to clean Silchar.

Milaap Silchar’s Sucharita Dhar said, “The whole vision of Team Milaap was to unite the people of Silchar and this mega sanitation drive proved the strength of the philanthropist society of Barak Valley.”

She further stated, “We have covered areas like Bilpar, Radhamadhab Road, Podmonagar, National Highway, Das Colony, Rangirkhari, Sonai Road, Ambicapatty, Vivekananda Road, Tarapur, Panchayat Road, Ashram Road, Shiv Colony, Malugram, Link Road, Public School Road, Meherpur etc. This couldn’t have been possible without the efforts of the organising team, special thanks to Jhonkar Paul, Sumit Das, Abhishek Chakraborty, and Subir Dhar for their efforts.”

Team Milaap also collected plastic waste and gave out 2000 plus water purification tablets to the needy. In this flood situation, the people of Silchar showed courage & unity and proved that humanity still exists. Team Milaap is grateful to all who helped to make this drive a huge success and wished that Silchar regains its lost shine very soon.

It needs mention here that during the recent devastating flood in Silchar, Team Milaap also undertook a massive relief programme and distributed drinking water and other food products in various parts of the town which were then submerged.
