Positive intervention of Dr.Rajdeep Roy: Job seekers not having Aadhaar due to NRC issues, can now get Employment Exchange number

May 26: It’s indeed a welcome move by Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy, due to which youths devoid of Aadhaar card due to NRC related issues, have now become eligible to get themselves registered at the Employment Exchange and subsequently apply for jobs.

Infact, a large number of people were deprived of Aadhaar card due to issues related to National Registrar of Citizens (NRC) related issues. Moreover, as they were prohibited to avail Aadhaar card for themselves, so they were also debarred from doing registration in Employment Exchange. Without having Employment Exchange registration number, these youths were unable to apply for the 26,441 number of Class-III and Class-IV posts, the last date of which is on 30 May, 2022. These people were mostly Bengali Hindus.

Although, a Cabinet decision by the Govt of Assam has been taken in this connection, in the meeting held on 18 May, yet the decision was still not implemented by the Skill Employment & Entrepreneurship Department (SEED). It is in this context that Dr Rajdeep Roy, Member of Parliament from Silchar constituency took up this matter with the Chief Minister of Assam and sought his immediate intervention.

Finally, the untiring efforts of MP Dr Roy bore fruits and the Deputy Secretary, SEED on 26 May, 2022 issued a WT Message in this connection to all the Employment Exchanges of Assam. In the said WT Message, the Director of Employment & craftsmen Training was requested for immediate transmission of the same. The message stated, “You are requested to provide Employment Exchange Registration number to those applicants whose Aadhaar cards have been put on hold due to NRC related issues for the sole purpose of applying in the  Class-III and Class-IV recruitment examination.” For this purpose, it was also directed to keep Employment Exchanges open on Saturday & Sunday (29 & 30 May, 2022).

The WT Message further provided the link of the NRC portal for the authentication of the status of the applicants with the Application Receipt Number (ARN).

Informing this in his twitter handle, MP Dr Rajdeep Roy wrote, “Job seekers not having #AADHAAR card due to #NRC related issues, can now get Employment Exchange number/card via Non-AADHAAR mode and apply for the 26441 class-III & IV posts.” He further offered thanks to Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and Cabinet Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary for their prompt positive action.

Infact, Dr Roy has also taken up this matter personally with Minister Patowary, which ultimately led to the issue of the WT Message. Many job aspirants, who were earlier unable to get Employment Exchange registration number due to NRC issues thanked Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy for his prompt intervention.
