টিফিন আওয়ার বলে ভোট বন্ধ, ছুটে গেলেন ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট

১৮ এপ্রিলঃ টিফিন আওয়ার বলে বেলা আড়াইটায় ভোটকেন্দ্রের দরজা বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হল। এমন আশ্চর্যজনক ঘটনাই ঘটল শিলচর শহরের ১৭ নং ওয়ার্ডের রামকৃষ্ণ বিদ্যামন্দিরে। প্রচণ্ড রোদের মধ্যে তখন প্রচুর ভোটার লাইনে দাঁড়িয়ে। তাঁরা এমন পারেন কিনা, বারবার প্রশ্ন উঠলেও কোনওকিছুর তোয়াক্কা না করে ভোটকর্মীরা ঘোষণা করেন, দাঁড়়িয়ে থাকতে হবে। আধ ঘণ্টা পর ফের ভোটগ্রহণ শুরু হবে। জেলাশাসক লায়া মাদ্দুরি জানিয়েছেন, খবর পেয়ে তিনি সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট পাঠিয়েছেন।

April 18: On the pretext of ‘tiffin hour’, doors of the polling centre was closed at 2.30 PM. Such a strange incident occurred at Ramkrishna Vidyamandir in Ward No.17 of Silchar town. At that time many voters were in the queue under the scorching heat of the sun. Though there is no concept of tiffin hour on the day of poll, yet the said polling team gave a damn care attitude and stopped polling. Finally, after a ‘tiffin-break’ of half-an hour voting was resumed. Laya Madduri, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar said that she immediately sent a Magistrate to that centre when she got that information.
