50 family members of 4 generation casts vote at Silchar Public School

April 18: Such enthusiasm for exercising the democratic right is rarely seen. Fifty members of the same family comprising of 4 generations came to cast their vote all together at Silchar Public Higher Secondary School (Room No.2). The most senior member of the Banik family who came to cast their vote is Gita Rani Banik, aged 105-year. They stay at Rangirkhari near Sanjay market.

Speaking to way2barak, Keshab Banik said, “We take pride in the unity of our family. At present we are 50 family members and we have all come together to exercise our democratic right. There are three new voters in our family this time. Next year, 3 more members of our family will attain voting age. We all hope that next year too we all will come together to cast vote along with our mother Gita Rani Banik, who will then be 106 years.”
