3 Covid-19 patients die at SMCH including 2 from Silchar town in last 24 hours

95 patients in ICU, 30 in ventilator support & 168 put under oxygen at SMCH

May 31: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 30 May to 5 PM on 31 May) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. All three deceased are from cachar district. The deceased were identified as:

  • Taj Uddin Laskar (43) from Katigorah Part-III in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 28 May. He passed away at 7.30 PM on 30 May.
  • Babul Ghosh (70) from Das Colony, Silchar took admission at SMCH on 29 May. He breathed his last at 1.20 AM on 31 May.
  • Amalendu Guha (78) from Nag Naha Lane, Silchar got admitted at SMCH in the early morning on 31 May. The patient expired at 7.05 AM on 31 May.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 31 May, there were 301 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 95 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 206 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 30 patients were put under ventilator support and 168 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 51 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 29 of them were discharged. Further, 46 of them have opted for home isolation.
