Parimal Suklabaidya visits Lankajan, directs combing operation against miscreants cutting trees
April 15: On the direction of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, his cabinet colleague, Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister of Forest & Environment and Fisheries inspected Lankajan area under Nagaon South Division and instructed a combing operation in the 250 sq km forest area where miscreants have cut several trees violating Environment Protection Act, 1986 & Indian Forest Act, 1927.
Expressing his views, Minister Parimal Suklabaidya said, “During my visit to Lankajan, I have instructed to form a team and divide it into 4 groups, each assessing the number of trees cut there within 7 days. Further, the forest department along with district administration and others will take steps to scrutinize the destruction in the reserved area.” He further instructed the District Forest Officer (DFO) and requested the SP & DC of the area to take stern action against anyone trying to trespass the area without authorization.

During his visit to Lankajan, Minister Parimal Suklabaidya was accompanied by Principal Chief Forest Conservator of Forests & Wildlife, MK Yadava, DFO Varun Purkayastha, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Choudhury, President of BJP Hojai district, Anup Deb among others.
