71 detected positive in Cachar on Tuesday
Sept. 22: On Tuesday, a total of 71 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 1018 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which 62 persons were found positive , whereas 09 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Tuesday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 8,345. It needs mention here that 77 persons were found positive in Cachar on Monday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Tuesday said that in the last 24 hours, 224 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 557 persons were collected. 561 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 21 of them tested positive. Further, 155 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 16 were found positive.
Apart from this, 18 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 11 were discharged. At present, there are 128 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 21 patients are now in critical condition. Another 30 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 152 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 272 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, no person have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 139 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 139 deaths, 57 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
