রাখি বন্ধনের দিনে প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি বেশ কড়া সুরে জানিয়ে দিয়েছেন, ধর্ষণকারীদের কড়া শাস্তির কথা ভারতীয় আইনে উল্লেখ রয়েছে। ধর্ষণে জড়িত বলে প্রমাণিত হলেই অন্তত ১০ বছরের কারাদণ্ড ভুগতে হবে। ১২ বছরের কম বয়সী শিশু-কিশোরীদের সঙ্গে এই ধরনের অভিযোগের প্রমাণ মিললে সোজা মৃত্যুদণ্ড।

রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী আজ মন কি বাত এর মাধ্যমে দেশবাসীর সঙ্গে তাঁর মনের কথা ভাগ করে নিলেন। এটি প্রতি মাসে হওয়া মন কি বাত-এর ৪৭তম সংস্করণ। এই মন কি বাত-এর মাধ্যমে আজ প্রধানমন্ত্রী দেশবাসীকে রাখীবন্ধন উৎসব ও জন্মাষ্টমীর শুভেচ্ছাও জানান।
পাশাপাশি আজ প্রধানমন্ত্রী সংস্কৃত দিবস উপলক্ষে এই ভাষার সঙ্গে যুক্ত থাকা প্রত্যেককে অভিনন্দন জানিয়েছেন। এ উপলক্ষে তিনি বলেছেন, এই ভাষাটি আমাদের সংস্কৃতির সঙ্গে যুক্ত।

মন কি বাত অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধানমন্ত্রী মোদি মহিলাদের সবলীকরণের উপর গুরুত্ব দেন। কথা প্রসঙ্গে মুসলমান মহিলাদের তিন তালাক প্রসঙ্গও টেনে আনেন।বলেন, তাঁদের সামাজিক ন্যায় পাইয়ে দিতে গোটা দেশ তাঁদের পাশে রয়েছে।

একসঙ্গে লোকভা ও বিধানসভার ভোট করিয়ে নেওয়ারও প্রস্তাব দিয়েছেন। তাঁর বক্তব্য, তাতে দেশের মঙ্গল হবে। গণতন্ত্র মজবুত হবে।

On the day of Raksha Bandhan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent out a strong message for the rapists while addressing the nation through Mann Ki Baat on Sunday. “Rapists will not be allowed to evade justice by ensuring speedy and strict punishment for the heinous crime,” Modi Said. Emphasising on the severity of the law, the prime minister said, “Those guilty of rape will get a minimum sentence of 10 years and those found guilty of raping girls below the age of 12 years will be awarded the death sentence.”

The Prime Minister also said that their focus is the empowerment of women. Talking about triple talaq bill, the PM assured Muslim women that the entire nation is there with them and he will ensure that they get justice. Modi said, “I assure the Muslim women that the entire country stands by them to provide them social justice.”

About Kerala, and the havoc it faced after incessant rains, PM Modi said the nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the southern state. He also appreciated the efforts of Air Force, Army, Navy, BSF, CISF, RAF, NDRF, in rescuing people.

PM Modi also stressed on the debate about simultaneous polls in the country and said it was healthy for democracy. He said the topic was gaining momentum and people were sharing their views. Mentioning Vajpayee, PM Modi said, the affection and respect he got from all over shows his stature as a leader. He said the entire nation was saddened by Vajpayee’s demise.
