OC of Ramnathpur PS in Hailakandi passes away

June 27: Officer In charge of Ramnathpur Police Station, Abdul Hye Choudhury died on Saturday morning following a brief illness. Choudhury was ailing for quite sometime and was admitted at a private nursing home in Silchar. He was referred to a hospital in Guwahati but he breathed his last on the way at Jowai-Shillong bypass.

Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath said that Choudhury was a gentleman par excellence and endeared all by his amiable disposition. The SP informed that a salami (honour) was accorded to him before his burial at his native place at Bahadurpur village, Nilam Bazaar in Karimganj district.

Born on August 12, 1960, Choudhury who joined service on May 1, 1990 was due to retire on August 31 this year. He leaves behind his father, mother, wife, five daughters and a host of relatives. His death has been widely mourned in Hailakandi district.
