Obey lockdown & social distancing or else lockdown will not be relaxed after 20 April, says Dr. Rajdeep Roy

Pained to see non-compliance of Lockdown 2.0: MP Rajdeep Roy

April 17: After completion of the 21 days of Lockdown 1.0, we are now in the second phase of this phenomenon. We are now in to the 4th day of Lockdown 2.0. That means, India in total has stepped in to the 24th day of this nationwide lockdown. 16 more days are yet to be completed in this second cycle. The extension of the lockdown became must in order to break the chain of the deadly coronavirus. However, in many places, people were found to be blatantly violating the norms of lockdown.

Speaking in this connection, Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy said that the government has declared that certain amount of relaxation in the lockdown may be permitted from 21 April. However, Dr. Roy said, “There has been a rumour in certain social media platforms that lockdown will be relaxed after 20 April. But the condition of relaxation will apply in our district (Cachar), if and only if, the number of COVID-19 cases does not increase over here. If there appears to be an increase in the number of positive cases in the district, then the condition of relaxation will not be applicable here.”

It is in this context that the MP urged upon all to abide by the directions of lockdown and social distancing in letter and spirit. Commenting on this, MP Roy said, “If the people come out of their houses and start mingling with each other, roam about in public, then they will be violating the basic objectives of lockdown. There are definitely many such persons in our society in whom there lies coronavirus in a dormant status, which can at any stage surface as COVID-19 positive. So, if we do not obey the principles of lockdown and social distancing, then definitely positive cases will rise. If such a situation arises, then no relaxation, whatsoever, will be allowed even after 20 April.”

Dr. Rajdeep Roy urged upon all to cooperate with the government. He requested the people of Cachar district to stay indoors and follow the principles of social distancing so that we can together win the battle against the deadly coronavirus.
