213 Education Volunteers trained at Hailakandi under Akanksha Project
September 13: Under Akanksha project, 213 Education Volunteers were trained covering all the three educational blocks with support from Education Department, Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCCs), District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Lala and Piramal Fellow Sadasiva Reddy. These volunteers will help improve learning outcomes in school going children through the teaching-learning methodologies imparted to them.
The District Administration of Hailakandi in their official website has stated that, “Learning outcomes of children in Government schools of our district needs some hand holding. To aid teachers in this honourable job, Education Volunteers under Project Akanksha is being piloted in Hailakandi with Education Department and Piramal Foundation. It is a great opportunity for all to give back to the society by volunteering to help children who are our future citizens learn better.”
Under the Akanksha project, day wise teaching modules were developed. Local community members can become a volunteer and aid the children and support teachers of their nearby school for a period of 45 days. Volunteers will teach these modules on a daily basis post lunch session or any time of their convenience. After the 45 day campaign, volunteers will get an appreciation certificate from the district administration and best-performing volunteers will be felicitated by the District Administration on 26 January 2020.
