Numbers drastically reduced, only 38 tests +ve in Cachar on Sunday
Sept. 13: On Sunday, the number of novel coronavirus patients came down once again. Only 38 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar district. During the day, a total of 564 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 26 were found positive, whereas only 12 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Sunday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 7,708 till now. It needs mention here that 65 persons were found positive in Cachar on Saturday..
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Sunday said that in the last 24 hours, 189 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 472 persons were collected. 821 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 14 of them tested positive. Further, 110 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 02 were found positive.
Apart from this, 14 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 19 were discharged. At present, there are 194 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 04 in ventilation. 31 patients are now in critical condition. Another 45 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 114 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 220 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, no person have died at SMCH. As of now, there were 129 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 129 deaths, 52 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
