Numbers decreasing: 26 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Sunday
June 27: A total of 26 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Sunday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 2,211 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 26 were found positive, whereas the reports of RT-PCR tests of the day were still not available. It needs mention here that 103 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Saturday.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley for more than a month. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 26 June to 5 PM on 27 June) did not witness the demise of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. This is ofcourse a ray of hope. On 25 June also, after 41 days, none died at SMCH due to Covid-19.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 27 June, there were 132 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 55 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 77 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 11 patients were put under ventilator support and 70 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 12 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 18 of them were discharged.
