No teacher in Arts faculty at Govt Girls’ HS School, students protest against alleged misbehaviour of Principal

Dec. 3: When the state government is speaking of enhancing the student- teacher ratio in the schools of Assam, there appeared to be a dismal picture at Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Silchar. Many students of the Higher Secondary Final year (Arts) on Friday sat for protest in the school premises raising voice of protest against the Principal of the school.

The students stated that they will have to appear in the HS Pre-Final, which will start from 15 December, 2021. However, there was no faculty in the Arts department of Govt Girls HS School. This has landed them in great trouble. Expressing their views, the students said, “We don’t have any teachers. We have complained about it to Bivash Sir, Vice Principal and also to the Principal. But none of them gave any response to our plea. We also told them that as there were no teacher, our course could not be completed and so how can we sit for the exams.”

“On this issue, our Principal behaved very roughly with us and told us that we are the children of rickshaw pullers and we can’t do anything against her. The Principal even threatened us with dire consequences and misbehaved with all of us. Derogatory words were also uttered against our parents. We would appeal to the Education Minister to intervene into this matter and save our career. We also wan’t that this Principal should be removed and also misbehaves with our parents and guardian,” alleged the Principal.

On getting the information, Circle Officer of Silchar Sadar Revenue Circle went to Govt Girls’ HS School along with police. He assured the students that proper investigation would be done and their problems would be solved. It is only after that the students ended their protest demonstration.
