No repoll at Hailakandi probably for the 1st time in its history: DC J. Keerthi
April 20: We are extremely proud to inform that there will be no repoll in Hailakandi for Loksabha election, 2019. Probably for the first time in its election history. Our thanks and congratulations to everyone. This was what J. Keerthi, Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi wrote in the Facebook page of the district.
In the same post, DC J. Keerthi on behalf of the district administration expressed thanks to all citizens of Hailakandi who came out to vote in a law-abiding fashion. She made special mention of all senior citizens and People with Disabilities who have turned up in great numbers to come and support the administration in this greatest festival of democracy.
She further wrote in her post, ” Women and youth voters have seen a rise in footfalls. We have increased our voting percentage by around 4.6% and female voting percentage has seen a rise by around 9% with a voter turnout of around 79.48%. All political parties have cooperated and found no reason to complain.”
Women voters outnumbered men in overall polling at Hailakandi district. Women voters recorded overall 77.72 per cent in comparison to men’s 81.06 per cent. Of the total 2,28,750 women voters, 1,77,999 turned out to exercise their franchise. Algapur LAC witnessed the highest poll percentage of women voters at 83.17% followed by Katlicherra LAC at 77.50 % and 6 Hailakandi LAC at 73.15 %.
The results of the election will be declared on 23 May, 2019.
