May 5: There will be no fee hike will be introduced for IITs, IIITs, and NITs for the academic year 2020-21. This was This was confirmed by Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank in a live interaction with the students across the nation on Tuesday afternoon. 

Earlier today, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal while conducting the webinar on social media that the JEE (Main) exam for admissions in engineering colleges in the country will be held from July 18 to 23 while the NEET exam for admission into medical colleges will be conducted on July 26. It was also informed that no examination to be held for class X students nationwide, except for students from North-East Delhi. An adequate time of 10 days will be given to all students for the preparation of exams. The minister reiterated its decision that the Academic Session 2020-21 for UG and PG may commence from 1st Aug‘20 for old students & from 1st Sep’20 for new students.

In the webinar, it was also informed that in case the situation does not appear to be normal in view of COVID-19, to maintain social distancing, safety, and health of the college students, grading could be a composite of 50% marks on the basis of the pattern of internal evaluation adopted by the universities and the remaining 50% marks on the basis of performance in the previous semester (if available).
