Nitish Kumar sworn-in as CM of Bihar, 2 Deputy CM’s also took oath
Nov. 16: Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chief Nitish Kumar of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) took oath for a record seventh time – his fourth consecutive term as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Monday. He was administered the oath of office by the state Governor Phagu Chauhan at Raj Bhawan in Patna on Monday. Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah and party President JP Nadda also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
A total of 14 ministers took oath along with Nitish Kumar. Along with Nitish Kumar, BJP leaders Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi also took oaths. They are expected to serve as his deputies. Notably, Prasad and Renu Devi were chosen the leader and the deputy leader of the BJP legislature party on Sunday during a NDA meeting chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has decided not attend the oath-taking ceremony. In a tweet, taking a dig at the JDU and the BJP, the RJD said that two helpless entities were forming a government in Bihar today: one helpless because it is weak and corrupt, the other because it is faceless. Tejashwi Yadav earlier alleged irregularities in the Bihar assembly elections held a few days ago and demanded recounting of postal ballot votes.
