NIA raids multiple location across Cachar, nabs 4 in connection with transportation of Rohingiyas to India
March 14: In a sensational incident, National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended four persons in connection with transportation of Rohingiyas to India via Myanmar and Bangladesh. Infact, on the basis of specific information, a big team of NIA officials came to Cachar on Friday and started raiding multiple locations over here.
After comb operation for two days, the NIA successful nabbed 4 such persons from Katigorah in Cachar and one from Meghalaya, who were allegedly responsible for transportation of Rohingiyas to India. As per sources, on last Friday, NIA arrested one Kumkum Choudhury, alias Achikul from Bangaluru who was involved in transporting the Rohingiyas from Mayanmar and via Bangladesh to India. On interrogating Achikul, police came to know about the activities of few more of the gang who were from Cachar district in Assam.
The four persons who were arrested by NIA from Katigorah in Cachar are: Bapan Ahmend Choudhury, Ahiya Ahmed Choudhury, Sahalam Laskar and Jamaluddin Choudhury. Further, from East Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya, NIA arrested Owan Riyang Suting.
As per NIA sources, these persons were involved in transportation of Rohingiyas through the Indo- Bangladesh borders of Cachar, Meghalaya and West Bengal. It was then that these arrested persons used to disperse them in different parts of India. This gang who were involved in transportation of Rohingiyas to India was known as the “Kumkum Rocket.” The mastermind of this racket was Kumkum Choudhury, alias Achikul who was arrested by NIA from Bangaluru.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police of Cachar, Ramandeep Kaur has accepted the fact that the NIA team has successfully conducted raids in Cachar and arrested 4 persons. She further stated that this racket used to bring the Rohingiyas to India and then make fake Indian documents in their name.
