Wearing of mask made compulsory & spitting in public place prohibited in Barak Valley

April 17: As precautionary measures to prevent further spread of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the district administration of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi in separate orders has made mandatory wearing of mask or face cover in public and work places with immediate effect. An order to this effect was issued by the  Deputy Commissioners of all the three districts of Barak Valley.

The order also strictly prohibited the sale of all kinds of liquor, gutka and tobacco products in the districts.
Further, spitting in public places was also strictly forbidden and offenders would be punished along with fine.
Any violation of the order will result in prosecution under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and relevant sections of IPC.
