NGO ‘Serve The People’ helps a pandemic devastated idol maker with ₹20,000
Oct. 14: The power of social media is immense, if it is used in a positive manner. Recently, a video depicting the miserable plight of an idol-maker was shared in social media by Silchar Live. In it’s 1st episode of “Surviving Covid-19”, the video of the pandemic devastated idol maker was uploaded in their page, which made a deep social impact. An NGO “Serve The People” was moved to such an extent that they came forward with a financial aid of Rs.20,000 for the idol-maker Haridas Paul of Silchar.
On receiving the cheque, Haridas Paul became speechless, as he had never expected such gesture from anyone. He said, “I am very happy now. Never got anything from anyone so far. Even the Government turned a blind eye towards our condition. This is the first time I have been helped. This really means a lot for me. I do not have words to express my gratitude for the help rendered by the youths. I shall always remain indebted for this humanitarian aid.”
Pritamjit Acharjee, on behalf of the NGO “Serve The People” said he first saw a video posted by SilcharLive on Facebook. After watching this video, he decided to support this sculptor. “I’m happy that I could help him. I request everybody to come forward and help people like these.”
