NGO Paavan celebrates Republic Day by distributing clothes among the underprivileged
Jan. 27: On the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day, NGO Paavan too came forward and celebrated it with full vigour and enthusiasm. To mark the occasion, the members of NGO Paavan spent the day along with the underprivileged persons of different age groups. To bring in smile in the faces of such persons, NGO Paavan organised a ‘cloth distribution programme’ at Chandkhira, Larching Tea Estate.
On 26 January, the members of Paavan distributing clothes, woollen garments, food stuff and toys among the tea garden populace. Around 200 tea labourers of varied age groups were handed over these items. The programme was conducted in collaboration with Vivekananda Path Mandir, Udharband. “The smile on the faces of the children was the greatest satisfaction which we had. We hope to be besides such underprivileged lot in the future also,” said Anusakha Chakraborty, one of the founder members.
The group members present in this event were Arundhati Dutta Choudhury, Anushaka Chakravorty, Anindita Nandi, Suroshikha Nath, Saptayudh Dutta Choudhury and Ruhit Paul. A wholehearted cooperation was offered in this venture by Dr. Kanakdip Sharma, in-charge, Model Hospital, Kumbhirgram.
Arundhati Dutta Choudhury said, “We have formed PAAVAN to do something beneficial for the marginalised sections of the society. I along with Anusakha Chakraborty founded this organisation. In fact, when we sat to finalise the name of our organisation, we were six members by that time. So we decided to keep a name out of the first six alphabets of our names. The six members are Priya, Arundhati, Anusakha, Vijoyeta, Anindita and Namrata.”
