New set of electricity tariff rules to be effective from 1 April issued by APDCL
Feb. 15: As per today’s AERC notification, a new set of tariff rules have been defined, with reduction in electricity tariffs, effective from 1st April, 2021, tweeted Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Chairman, Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission on Monday. APDCL shall levy category wise tariffs after adjusting the amount of category base subsidy, if provided by the Government of Assam.
The highlight of this Order is that the energy charges of LT Domestic and LT Commercial categories have been reduced by 20 paise/kWh, while the energy charges of all other categories have been reduced by 15 paise/kWh. The fixed/demand charges have been retained at existing levels for all categories. ToD tariffs (Optional) has been extended to LT and HT Small Industries.

Meanwhile, the night off-Peak rebate has been retained at Rs. 2.00 per kWh, while the additional charges during peak hours have been increased from Rs. 1.50 per kWh to Rs. 2.00 per kWh, in order to further incentivise eligible consumer categories to shift more of their consumption from peak hours to night off-peak hours.
