New registration not needed, eligible population can directly walk-in to vaccine centre to avail booster dose

Jan. 8: The booster shot for healthcare workers, frontline workers including personnel deployed for election duty, and persons aged more than 60 years with co-morbidities will be starting from January 10 under the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme. The Centre has also said that no new registrations in the CoWin platform would be required for those taking the shot.

The online appointment facility will also start by Friday evening. Vaccination with onsite appointment starts on January 10

“Precautionary COVID-19 vaccine dose will be the same vaccine as has been given previously. Those who have received Covaxin will receive Covaxin, those who have received primary two doses of Covishield will receive Covishield,” NITI Aayog member (Health) Dr V K Paul said.
