Neurosurgeon Dr. Sambuddha Dhar earns praise for online booking initiative

way2barak, Dec. 26: Renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Sambuddha Dhar, who was appointed at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) in October last year, has started a page on social media to help patients register their booking with him easily without having to stand in long queues to get booking tokens. This initiative by the doctor has received warm reactions from a large section of citizens here.

Apart from Barak Valley, a huge number of people from neighbouring states like Tripura and Mizoram visit Silchar for treatment- related purposes and they, after reaching here, have to stay at hotels to get booking tokens of the doctor, who besides SMCH, is also available at a private hospital. Considering the inflow of patients at SMCH (which is the biggest healthcare facility in Barak Valley and receives a massive number of patients every day), many people prefer going to the private hospital. However, patients at times do not get tokens because of various reasons like unavailability of the doctor for unavoidable reasons and such others and as a result patients have to stay for additional days which requires extra spending.

With the objective to help patients do their booking in a hassle-free way, Dr. Dhar, who often shares his surgery-related stuff on social media and interacts with netizens, started a page (sambuddhadhar.com) on social media in November and this has earned him appreciation from a large number of citizens.

After the doctor shared about the online booking system on social media, netizens welcomed it with warm comments. One of the users wrote – “Great initiative Sir. Love to see & appreciate your dedication towards the patients and trying your soul best to be always available for them”. Another person wrote – “Nice initiative. A great relief to patients like us. Thank you so much.”

About starting the process of online booking, Dr. Dhar said he came up with the initiative to help patients get his booking easily. Patients from far off places come to Silchar to get his booking and they have to stay at hotels and pay expensive prices just to get tokens. The online booking system will help them get the booking without any kind of hassles, Dr. Dhar said.
