National Youth Day observed by Silchar Unit of ABVP
Jan. 13: ABVP Silchar unit on Tuesday evening observed the158th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at Banga Bhawan. Jagdish Das, Additional Superintendent of Police, Cachar was the chief guest of the occasion. Addressing the gathering, he said “ABVP has been working hard to bring drastic changes in the lives of the youths. ABVP follows the ideal and principles of Swami Vivekananda. I would like to urge the ABVP to fight against drug abuse. The Cachar Police Administration is with ABVP to root out the menace of drug from Cachar.”
Mahesh Bhagavath, North East Janasamparka Pramukh who was also the chief speaker said “India was ruled by Mughal and British. But if one flips through the pages of history, the name of Swami Vivekananda will be found written in gold letters. His words and wisdom has always been a source of inspiration for all. Our history books and curriculum did not teach much on Swami Vivekananda. Shaheed Bhagat Singh etc. This is indeed an irony.”
Ratan Kumar Das, Professor of Cachar College and District Coordinator of ABVP Cachar who was guest of honour said that “3000 families were benefited through various distribution programmes which were carried out on the COVID-19 pandemic by Silchar unit of ABVP. ” Ananda Chandra Ghosh, Vice President of ABVP Silchar delivered the welcome speech and said “ABVP has been celebrating this day since it’s inception. ABVP believes in youth power and thus we stress on their growth and development “.
Later on, prizes were also distributed for the various competitions which were conducted by Silchar Unit of ABVP in Cachar College recently.
