National Librarian’s Day observed in Cachar
Aug. 13: On the occasion of National Librarian’s Day, an exceptional programme was organised at 1017, Dakshin Mohanpur LP School which was presided over by Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. A plethora of activities were unfolded during the day.
The programme began with a welcome speech by CRCC, SM Firoz Laskar, which was followed by an inaugural song performed by Lipika Sinha, an official of Sonai Education Block. The objective of the occasion was narrated by DPO of SSA Cachar, Panchatapa Choudhury. Others who gave relevant speeches were DPO Papri Bhattacharjee, Rana Ranjan Nath, Prof. Abdul Matin Laskar, National Youth Award recipient KH, Krishna Mohan Singh, Kachudaram GP President Apu Kumar Das and APM U Mizanur Rahman.
Expressing her views, DC Jalli said, “It is indeed a proud privilege for me to inaugurate today at Dakshin Mohanpur LP School free books for all, a concept developed by Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) S M Firoj Laskar. Through community development funds, they have also built a water conservation scheme around the hand pump. The school has a plastic bank, a corner for solid and liquid waste. The school is very clean, colourful and has a pleasant academic atmosphere. This speaks volumes on the active interest of the SMC team ably led by the Headmistress. Further, the kitchen is also very clean. The cook and helper were found to wear apron and head cap. My best wishes to the entire team and all support for future endeavours.”
Further, the Deputy Commissioner was spell bound as the school organised the event in a very organised manner. She said that there is no substitute for books. She said, “By reading books, people learn various things and thereby the knowledge acquired by them also helps in nation building.”
On the occasion, IE component of Sarva Shiksha handed over chairs, tables and cupboards for pre-primary students to the heads of three schools on behalf of the government. Also present during the occasion were CRCC’s of various blocks of Cachar, members of school management committee, members of mother’s group, students, parents, stakeholders. Everyone applauded the initiative of the education department. The entire program was compered by SM, Firoz Laskar. The headmistress of the school Lucky Begum Laskar offered the vote of thanks.
