Nagnaha Lane, Udayachal Lane, Kalimohan Road gives NOC for home isolation of COVID patients

August 5: The coronavirus pandemic has also given rise to humanitarian crisis. In many places, people are even not allowing doctors, nurses and other health workers to enter their apartment. However, many localities in Silchar have adopted laudable steps in this connection. Some societies and lane development committees have taken unanimous decision of allowing asymptomatic COVID-19 positive patients to stay in home isolation. Now, a similar decision was taken by three other localities of Silchar. These are Nagnaha Lane, Kalimohan Road & Udayachal Road (National Highway).

The respective lane committees have also communicated their decision to the district administration. An application signed by all residents of Nagnaha lane including former Principal Jagadish Chandra Majumdar, former Municipal Chairperson Tamal Kanti Banik echoed the same decision. A similar resolution was adopted by Udayachal Lane Unnayan Samiti on 5 August. The resolution was signed by the members of the executive committee including its Secretary Sibatosh Mishra. Also, Kalimohan Road Development Committee, Tarapur adopted resolution of allowing asymptomatic patients to stay at home. A letter in this regard was also sent to DC Cachar signed by Dr. Rajib Kar, Secretary of Kalimohan Road Development Committee.

They informed that they have decided that, if any resident of their lane (including tenants) tests COVID-19 positive (asymptomatic), then they will have no objection in allowing home quarantine to that patient. They also decided that the other residents of the lane will provide essential commodities to such persons who will go for home isolation due to coronavirus. However, they added that such persons of their lane who will go for home isolation should observe the COVID-19 protocol issued by the government.

It needs mention here that eminent cardiologist Dr. P.C. Sharma and his wife were the 1st coronavirus positive patients to be allowed home isolation by the district health department after he satisfied the conditions laid down by Assam government in this connection. Earlier, Sukanta Sarani (Hailakandi Road, Silchar), Adi Shib Bari Lane Development Committee (adjacent to Public School), Moulabi Road (Ambicapatty), Bilpar – Ashram Road Unnayan Sangstha, Shivalik Park, East Norshing Road Development Committee, Arun Chanda Road, Sahid Sunil Sarkar Lane etc also took a similar decision in allowing any asymptomatic positive patient of their lane/ apartment/ society to stay in home isolation.
