Mystery surrounds disappearance of government employee in Silchar

way2barak, February 1: A baffling case of disappearance has gripped the local administration, as the Office of the Executive Engineer, PWRD, Silchar & Udharbond Territorial Road Division has reported one of its employees missing. Sri Biswajit Charah, a Chowkidar (MTS) under the division, mysteriously vanished from the office premises on October 19, 2024. Despite relentless efforts to establish contact with him and his family, there has been no trace of his whereabouts.
Sri Charah, who joined service on June 13, 2023, had been diligently performing his duties until the day he went missing without a word. His unexplained absence has raised concerns among colleagues and officials alike, prompting the department to seek public assistance in tracing him. The authorities have stated that unless he is located soon, they may have no option but to consider termination of his employment, making the situation even more urgent.
Hailing from Malapindha, Goalgaon, in Assam’s Majuli district, Sri Charah is described as a 5-foot-7-inch-tall male. His sudden disappearance has left his workplace and community deeply unsettled. Officials are urging anyone with relevant information to step forward, as even the smallest lead could be crucial in locating him.
The Office of the Executive Engineer, PWRD, Silchar & Udharbond Territorial Road Division, has issued an official appeal to the public, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter.
