Update from Lumshnong: Some heavy vehicles allowed to ply on trial basis

June 19: Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Jaintia Hills on Sunday night (11 PM) announced that the repair work of the road at Lumshnong was going on in full pace. He said, “Pleased to announce that repair work is progressing steadily. Some heavy vehicles were also allowed on trial basis to see how road is holding. Teams are on ground to respond to any needs. Hopefully we will be able to open the road for one-way vehicular movement soon.”

Earlier during the day, DC East Jaintia Hills District said, “Substantial progress has been made in restoration of NH-06 at the damaged portion. Despite the continuous rain, work has been going on steadfast. Apart from allowing the passengers to use their private road, Star Cement is also facilitating the work by providing lighting so that work can continue at night.”
