Municipality elections to take place in Assam on March-April: Himanta

Oct. 13: Municipality elections in Assam will be held in the month of March-April. This was stated by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on the sidelines of Durga Puja on the day of Maha Saptami in Silchar. He further stated that the Bill regarding converting Silchar municipality into Corporation will be passed in the next session of the Assam Legislative Assembly, which will be held in December 2021.

“The Corporation Act will be passed before the local body elections. So I feel that the elections can be held in March-April when already the Corporation Act for Silchar will be passed, added the Chief Minister.
