MP Dr Rajdeep Roy thanks Defence Minister & CM Assam for approving Sainik School in Silchar constituency
March 26: Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved setting up of 21 new Sainik Schools, in partnership with NGOs/ private schools/ State Governments. These schools will be set up in the initial round of the Government’s initiative of setting up of 100 new Sainik schools across the country in partnership mode. Out of the 21 new Sainik Schools, one of them was approved to be set up in Cachar district of Assam.
Speaking to way2barak on Saturday night, Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy said, “It’s indeed a welcome news for the people of my constituency that the Ministry of Defence has approved setting up of a Sainik School over here. I would like to place on record my heartfelt thanks to our most respected Raksha Mantri Sri Rajnath Singhji for this. Further, I would also extend my thanks to our most active Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarmaji for his heartfelt consent to select my constituency for this rare honour.”

“Infact, I was the listed speaker in the Lok Sabha on the issue of setting up of new Sainik schools across the country in partnership mode. The school in Cachar district will be set up in partnership with Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam. I am hopeful that the Union government under the able leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modiji will definitely provide more new avenues for the development of Assam,” added Dr. Rajdeep Roy.
Dr Roy also said that the objectives behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of setting up of 100 new Sainik Schools is to provide quality education to the students in tune with National Education Policy and give them better career opportunities, including joining the Armed Forces. It also gives an opportunity to the private sector to work hand-in-hand with the Government towards nation building by refining today’s youth to become responsible citizens of tomorrow.
MP Dr Roy had also stressed in the Parliament upon the issue of introducing NCC as an elective/ compulsory subject in school curriculum. More details into this aspect will be unfolded in the coming days.
