More than 100 kg ganja seized by Cachar Police this week in 2 separate incidents, 3 nabbed
July 16: The war against narcotics has been carried on by Assam Police with full vigour. Informing this, Cachar Police stated that in this week, they were successful in seizing more than 100 kg ganja in two separate incidents. They have also arrested 3 peddlers in this connection.
In the first incident this week, Cachar Police successfully located and seized 82 Kg ganja at Thaligram Basti under Udharbond Police Station. Two persons were arrested in this connection. In another incident, 25.10 Kg ganja were seized from an individual at Sonai Road. In this connection, police also seized a scooty and arrested one person.
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma during his speech at Assam Assembly on Wednesday stated that Police is able to seize only 10 percent of the available drugs in Assam. But the actual quantity that is being transported or sold is many times more than what has been seized. Those who are arrested so far are just the peddlers. Since, the last two months,1,897 peddlers were arrested. A total of 27 kg heroine and 12,823 ganza, 41 kg opium & 78,000 bottles of cough syrup, 13 lakh psychotropic substances was seized during this phase, informed the Chief Minister.
