Min ₹4,000 & max ₹ 15,000 per day fixed for Covid treatment in pvt hospitals by Assam govt

July 4: In what seems to be a news of relief for the people of Assam, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed the health department to fix the rates for treatment of Covid-19 patients in the private hospitals of the state. The Chief Minister on Friday was chairing a meeting to take stock of the Covid-19 management in the state. The meeting was also attended by Health Minister Keshab Mahanta apart from several top officials of the state. This is in backdrop of “exorbitant rates” charged by private hospitals and nursing homes during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Chief Minister also stated, “Affordable rates have been fixed for both general & super-speciality wards.” Later on, during the day, while addressing the media, State Health Minister, Keshab Mahanta provided the detailed rate chart which has been prepared by the State Health Department. The minister stated that the private hospitals in the state shall have to charge Covid patients admitted by them on the basis of this rate chart.

The charges in Super Specialty Hospitals and other hospitals shall be fixed for COVID patients considering the bed occupied in General ward, paying cabin and ICU (with and without Ventilator support) as follows:

Inclusions: Registration charges, Bed Charges,Boarding charges (Food etc.), Nursing Charges, Consultant Charges: RMO, MD, Anesthetists, Surgeon, Blood Transfusions, Oxygen charges, Medicine & Drugs as treatment protocol, Pathology & Radiology test charges: Medical procedures include essential radiological imaging and diagnostic test such as X-ray, USG, Haematology, Pathology etc, BMW (incl. Sanitization), PPE Kits, N-95 masks) This means the following services shall have to be included in the rates mentioned in the chart.

Exclusions: High-End Investigations like C.T. Chest/HRCT Chest/Di dimer etc., High-End Medicines like Remdisivir/ Tocilizumubab etc., Treatment and diagnosis procedures related with any co- morbid conditions. This means the following services shall be excluded in the rates mentioned in the chart.

Further, Minister Keshab Mahanta informed that the state govt will provide loans without interest for 3 months to private hospitals interested in purchasing & administering vaccines (under 25 % quota).
