১২ সেপ্টেম্বর : আসাম সহ উত্তর পূর্বের কয়েকটি স্থানে আজ সকালে মৃদু ভূ-কম্পন অনুভূত হয়। রিখটার স্কেলে এর তীব্রতা ছিল ৫.৫। তবে কম্পনে এ পর্যন্ত কোনও ক্ষয়ক্ষতির খবর নেই।

শিলঙের কেন্দ্রীয় সিসমোলজিক্যাল অনুসন্ধান কেন্দ্রের উদ্ধৃতি দিয়ে সংবাদ সংস্থা জানিয়েছে, আসামের কোকরাঝাড় জেলার ১০ কিলোমিটার পশ্চিমে ভূ-পৃষ্ঠ থেকে ১৩ কিলোমিটার গভীরে ছিল এর উৎসস্থল। ফলে আসামের কয়েকটি জেলা সহ পশ্চিমবঙ্গের উত্তরের ৬টি জেলা ও বিহারের পাটনা পর্যন্ত কম্পন অনুভূত হয়েছে। এই কম্পন প্রায় ১৫ থেকে ২০ সেকেন্ড স্থায়ী ছিল। হঠাৎ করে কম্পন শুরু হওয়ায় মানুষ আতঙ্কে বাড়ির বাইরে চলে আসেন। তবে এখন পর্যন্ত বড় ধরনের ক্ষতির খবর পাওয়া যায়নি।

September 12: A mild earthquake rocked Assam and other North Eastern states today morning. The earthquake measured 5.5 in the Richter scale. However, there were no reports of any loss of life and property.

The quake occurred at a depth of 13 km around 10.20 am with its epicentre at Sapatgram in Kokrajhar district of Assam, the India Meteorological Department said. Tremors were also felt in Kolkata, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, North Dinajpur, Malda and Murshidabad. Minor cracks have been reported in a few buildings in western Assam’s Chirang district but no casualty has been reported so far.The earthquake occurred at 10:20 am with its focus 10 km below the ground at Sapatgram in Kokrajhar district of Assam
