Meritorious girl students given scooties by Assam government

Girl students of remaining districts will be given scooties on 2 & 3 January 

Dec. 20: Keeping to its promise, Assam government distributed scooties to over 22 thousand meritorious girl students of the state. The state government gave scooties to the girl students of Kamrup Rural & Kamrup Metro on Sunday who had passed higher secondary final examinations in first division. The girl students of remaining districts of Assam will be given the scooters at district level functions on January 2 and 3, 2021.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in presence of Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma kick started the ceremonial distribution of scooties at a function held at Numali Jalah Parade Ground, Amingaon. Also present during the occasion were S. Bhattacharjee, Bhabesh Kalita, Queen Oja and other dignitaries.

Taking to his twitter handle, CM Sonowal wrote, “Glad to ceremonially present scooters as part of #DrBanikantaKakatiAward, 2020 under Pragyan Bharati to meritorious girl students securing 1st division in HS Examination, 2020 from Kamrup(M) & Kamrup(R) districts in Guwahati. Under the scheme, our Govt will provide scooters to 22,245 girl students across Assam.” 

State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Wheels of Empowerment Motor scooter Glad that 22,245 girl students are being given Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award while students from Kamrup & Kamrup M who secured 1st Div in HSE get a scooter each. Joined HCM @sarbanandsonwal at their felicitation today.”
