Megha Nidhi Dahal takes charge from Keerthi Jalli as new DC of Hailakandi

May 9: Megha Nidhi Dahal took over as new Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi on Saturday. Dahal took over the charge from outgoing Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli at around 10.45 am at the Deputy Commissioner’s office chamber in the presence of senior officials of the administration. A welcome and farewell function was held at DC’s conference hall in honour of the new and outgoing Deputy Commissioners.

Speaking on the occasion, outgoing Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli said it was an honour and privilege to work with the officials and employees during her stint here. Jalli said that the achievements made by the district and the way it tackled the COVID-19 situation ‘the credit for all this goes to you’. Jalli told Dahal that she is entrusting the family to him and requested him to nurse with love and care. “I am leaving my family in your hands. Look after them with love and care,” Jalli said chocked with emotion.

She said though she has a tough exterior, she is soft inside. “I may have sometimes dealt with you in a tough way but quintessentially I have a soft heart beneath the tough exterior. If I have hurt you in any way, don’t take it to your heart,” she said with tears welling in her eyes. Jalli wished Dahal the very best in his new assignment as Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi.

Speaking on the occasion, new Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi, Megha Nidhi Dahal said the good work carried out by officials and employees of the administration and the heads of departments would have to be sustained during the ‘unprecedented times we have not seen before’. Dahal while wishing Jalli the very best in her new assignment as Deputy Commissioner, Cachar during the ‘most challenging times’, hoped she would be able to tide over the COVID-19 situation with her repertoire of experiences. In a lighter vein, Dahal said that he would look up to Jalli as ‘Silchar is a big brother for the entire Barak Valley region.. and would continue to hear more of her.’

Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Vikram Dev Sarma said during her stint as Deputy Commissioner, Jalli guided them through thick and thin and brought out the district from difficult times to a green zone district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Health, EL Faihraem said it was a pleasure and privilege working with her and wished her the very best in her new task as Deputy Commissioner of Cachar. Officials of the administration felicitated both the Deputy Commissioners and presented mementos to them. Officials and employees of the administration and district heads introduced themselves to the new Deputy Commissioner.

Dahal, aged 33, a 2015 IAS batch Officer with BE degree in Information Science and Engineering is a resident of Lingmoo Busty, about 30 km from Singtam of the State of Sikkim.
