Massive fire in Guwahati engulfs 50 plus houses

Dec. 19: In what seems to be a major incident of fire, more than 50 bamboo structured houses were gutted near Jhalukbari Flyover on Saturday afternoon. Eye witnesses revealed that the fire spread due to multiple cylinder blasts. Around 15 to 20 cylinders had blasted at that spot which resulted in the fire. 14 fire brigades fought for more than 3 hours to douse the massive flames. However, there was no report of any casualties.
