Massive explosion at the Baghjan oil field in Tinsukia

June 9: In a tragic development, a massive explosion took place at the Baghjan oil field in Tinsukia district of Assam on Tuesday. The oil field caught fire when the experts were present at the site to control the leakage of oil and gas from the site. Natural Gas has been uncontrollably leaking from the site since 27 May when the first blowout occurred. 3 experts of Singapore based firm “M/s Alert Disaster Control” reached Duliajan on Monday to contain the gas leak at the well. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal have taken serious note of this matter and informed the incident to Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
